Carcinoma of the Gallbladder: CT Findings

Abstract
Spiral CT was done in 50 cases with carcinoma of the gallbladder in Pusan National University Hospital during 3 years, We classified the gallbladder cancer into 2 groups: group 1- a gallbladder mass with visible gallbladder(74%); and group 2-a
mass
in
the gallbladder fossa with no identiable gallbladder(26%). Group 1 was subdivided into 3 types according to the lumen; Type 3 an infiltrating tumor seen as focal or diffuse wall thickening. Liver involvement in the form of localized invasion in
the
vicinity of primary gallbladder cancer, was the most common associated finding(80%). Other associated findings included presence of calculi, lymphadenopathy, and biliary obstruction. CT was found useful for characterizing and defining the extent
of
carcinoma of the gallbladder.
